Max from Where the Wild Things Are
Baby birthday! All dressed up as Max from Where the Wild Things Are! D is king of all the wild things (and I'm happy with how my little stenciled paint came out on that little burlap sign!)

Two Years Later
It's been a very long time since my last post! In the last two years, my life has changed for the better. I graduated from my teaching credential/ Masters program and started teaching at a private Christian school. I love my students and am very grateful. In the last few months, Jeremy and I were blessed to sell our townhome and bought the fixer-upper house that we had our hearts set on. Life is not without its challenges, but we are so very grateful. We're doing a lot of work on the house, and hope we can move in within the next month or so. We're going on month three of living out of suitcases :-)
We also adopted a new dog....NILLA!!! We're thrilled that Kashi now has a friend and sister.

Here is a picture from the exact day in July when Nilla joined our family. So THANKFUL!

Surprise!
A fabulous surprise arrived on my doorstep from a treasured best friend of mine...
I almost couldn't contain myself when I saw the two giant boxes sitting on our porch! Such an unexpected SURPRISE--pretty house gifts, a hilarious card (which describes us!), and a creative hand-made collage with picture of us spanning the last 5 years.
...and the inside of the card.....
I love you T!

Today
Today: Kashi is adorable as always and is sitting with me as I do my homework for class. Speaking of which, I need to pump out a final paper for one of my classes...must get working....
Today is lovely. And a blessing. And I am so thankful.

Daily Life
I don't think I've mentioned how much I have absolutely loved being back in school (it's already been 2 years since I graduated from Pepperdine!) Learning in the classroom, reading all kinds of articles, thinking through different issues and education laws of the state of California.... It has all been very motivating and fascinating. I am looking forward to the rest of my masters program, and even more so, looking forward to being a teacher myself.
We've been researching and learning about all kinds of trends, both good and bad in the school system--and ways that we can make a difference once we get into the field. Here is a display board my group and I created recently--we chose UCI colors
“Upon the subject of education, not presuming to dictate any plan or system respecting it, I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in. That everyone may receive at least a moderate education appears to be an objective of vital importance.”

This is my amazing sister teaching! She is my inspiration :-)

Happy 2nd Anniversary

Bedroom Makeover!
couch while we re-decorated our master bedroom!
It was a big project for us, but we had fun doing it together :-)
BEFORE picture-- May 2009 right before we moved in. The old owners, had very white walls! Too stark for me!
AFTER picture! Our room now-- decorated!
Someday we'll get a bedframe...hopefully a canopy bed :-)

Ambition
"Ambition! We must be careful what we mean by it. If it means the desire to get ahead of other people -- which is what I think it does mean -- then it is bad. If it means simply wanting to do a thing well, then it is good. It isn't wrong for an actor to want to act his part as well as it can possibly be acted, but the wish to have his name in bigger type than the other actors is a bad one" - C.S. Lewis

Perfection.
My perfect dream bedrooms! Although...I'm not holding my breath thinking that my hubby will ever let me paint our master bedroom pink. I tried that once, and he hated it! Oh well, a girl can dream...

Home projects
While walking in Montreal we came across this street of artists...
We purchased this fine painting from a cooky artist in Montreal.
He was a nice guy...very funny :)
Finished having it framed, and J also finished fixing up my 100 year old ice box (also shown below). Love it!
